Specialist scaffolding service
Temporary Roof Scaffolding in Dorset & Hampshire
Temporary roofs provide weather protection during construction, refurbishment and roof replacement works, allowing work to continue beneath a covered structure without the constant risk of exposure to the British weather.

Service Overview
Whether it’s a new-build awaiting its permanent roof, a major refurbishment or the complete removal of an existing roof covering, keeping the building dry can make a substantial difference to the construction programme. Water damage, saturated materials and lost working days can quickly become expensive problems.
At TWK Scaffolding, we design and erect temporary roofing systems across Dorset, Hampshire and the surrounding areas, from smaller emergency covers to large-scale installations exceeding 2,000m².
Our experience includes traditional scaffold-supported roofs, lightweight HAKI systems, freestanding structures and mobile roofing arrangements, each tailored to the building, site conditions and works taking place underneath.
Applications & Available Solutions
Not every building needs the same roofing arrangement. The span, roof profile, supporting structure, available working space and duration of the project all influence the most practical solution.
Traditional & Freestanding Temporary Roofs
Using independent scaffolding, specialist roofing beams and suitable coverings, we can create mono-pitch, duo-pitch and more complex roof arrangements.
Structures can be supported by scaffolding tied into the existing building or designed to stand independently where ties are unsuitable or where access is required to the elevations beneath the roof.
HAKI Temporary Roof Systems
Our HAKI 450 and 750 roofing systems offer lightweight, purpose-designed solutions for larger spans and more demanding installations.
Depending on the design, roof sections can be assembled from guarded platforms, progressively rolled into position or lifted by crane where site conditions allow. These methods can substantially reduce the amount of work required at exposed height.
Mobile Temporary Roofs
For longer buildings or projects completed in phases, mobile roofs can be designed to travel along the supporting scaffold as works progress.
This allows individual areas to be covered or opened when required, providing flexibility for demolition, lifting operations and phased roofing works without necessarily covering the entire building at once.

Roof Coverings
We offer rigid corrugated steel sheeting and flexible Keder roofing systems, selected according to the design and project requirements.
Steel sheeting provides a robust covering for extended programmes, while Keder systems allow flexible sheeting to be drawn through tracks within the roof structure, reducing the need for operatives to work directly on the roof framework.
Roof falls, drainage arrangements and the suitability of the chosen covering are considered during the design stage.
Where Temporary Roofs Are Used
Our temporary roofing solutions support a wide range of projects, including:
- New-build construction and major extensions
- Roof replacement, repairs and refurbishment
- Occupied schools, hospitals and commercial properties
- Heritage buildings and sensitive restoration works
- Industrial maintenance and structural alterations
- Emergency roofing following storm or fire damage
The TWK Approach
A well-designed temporary roof does more than keep the rain out. It needs to accommodate the building, provide suitable access for the trades underneath and work alongside the overall construction programme.
We start with a site survey to understand the structure and the proposed works. Access restrictions, roof spans, supporting arrangements, crane operations, material movements and the erection sequence are all considered before a suitable solution is agreed.
Temporary roofs are subject to job-specific design, with structural calculations and drawings prepared in accordance with relevant industry guidance, including NASC TG9:18 and BS EN 16508.
Particular attention is given to wind loading, uplift forces, scaffold stability and the loads transferred into the supporting structure.
We also consider how the roof will be erected and dismantled safely. Wherever practicable, we favour methods that reduce exposure to working at height, including progressive installation from protected platforms and assembling sections at ground level.
Our experience extends to occupied schools, live construction sites and restricted MOD establishments, where careful coordination, planned deliveries and safe segregation are just as important as the structure itself.
The objective is straightforward: provide a temporary roof that protects the works, accommodates the other trades and allows the project to move forward safely and efficiently.
