TWK Scaffolding has been chosen to carry out this high profile project at the Diamond Light Source science facility at the Harwell Science and Innovation Campus in Oxfordshire.

After weeks of meetings, planning, several design changes and alternations we have commenced the works on site.

One of the first challenges we had to overcome was to deliver the entire kit to be used for this job…and all had to be craned into the inner circle of the building. At the beginning of December, over 180 tones of equipment have been split into 1 tone packs and within 3 days all been delivered to the site and unloaded, ready for the crane to do 180 lifts to move the kit across the roof and into the desired location…all done smoothly and within given timescales.

Our chargehand – Del and his team of 5 will be working tirelessly, over the next couple of months to complete the entire perimeter (in excess of 400 linear meters) of 5 lifts high, fully boarded structure, with several bridge sections along the way!

Interesting Fact:
Diamond Light Source is the UK’s national synchrotron. It works like a giant microscope, harnessing the power of electrons to produce bright light that scientists can use to study anything from fossils to jet engines to viruses and vaccines.
