Tower Block Scaffolding for Major Recladding and Roofing Project

TWK Scaffolding was proud to be awarded this prestigious contract by United Living Group, one of the UK’s leading infrastructure, housing and property services companies. The project involved the design, supply and erection of specialist tower block scaffolding to facilitate extensive recladding and roofing works across four large residential high-rise buildings.

As an experienced provider of high rise scaffolding and commercial scaffolding, TWK Scaffolding was selected to deliver a complete access solution capable of supporting multiple contractors working simultaneously across all four tower blocks.

Tower Block Scaffolding for Recladding Projects

The scope of works included the installation of fully designed, fully boarded and fully netted access scaffolding to each tower block. The scaffold systems were specifically engineered to provide safe and efficient access for recladding contractors, roofing specialists and associated trades carrying out external refurbishment works.

In addition to the access scaffolding, TWK Scaffolding supplied passenger and goods hoists to each building, ensuring the safe transportation of operatives, tools and materials throughout the project.

The project programme required all four towers to be scaffolded and operational simultaneously, creating significant logistical and resource challenges that demanded careful planning and coordination.

Large Scale Commercial Scaffolding Project

To meet the client’s programme requirements, TWK Scaffolding deployed a highly experienced workforce across the development. At peak production, up to 25 operatives were working on site at any one time, ensuring multiple work fronts could be progressed simultaneously without impacting the construction schedule.

Our ability to mobilise substantial labour resources allowed the client to maintain programme certainty while ensuring safe access was available wherever required throughout the duration of the works.

Significant Material Quantities and Logistics

The scale of the project required substantial quantities of scaffolding materials to be delivered, managed and installed efficiently.

Each tower block required approximately:

• 3,000 scaffold boards
• More than 20,000 scaffold fittings
• Over 65,000 linear feet of scaffold tube

Across the entire project, TWK Scaffolding estimates that more than 700 tonnes of scaffolding materials were delivered, handled and erected to create the access infrastructure required for the refurbishment works.

Managing these material volumes required detailed logistics planning, coordinated deliveries and efficient site management to ensure the project remained on schedule.

Passenger and Goods Hoist Installation

A key element of the access strategy was the installation of passenger and goods hoists to each tower block. These systems provided safe vertical transportation for both personnel and materials, significantly improving efficiency while reducing manual handling risks.

The integration of hoists with the scaffold design enabled contractors to access working areas quickly and safely, helping maintain productivity across multiple elevations and work phases.
